Founder Introduction

Amrit Elise Singh is the creator of Amrit Elise. She has been passionate about fashion since she was in elementary school. She grew up going to a private school that primarily wore uniforms. One day each month, there was a "free dress day" where students could pick out their own outfit for school. This is where she got excited at the idea of dressing nice and caring about style- especially since back then it was special as it didn't happen very often.

At 17, she started at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. Her major was Merchandise Product Development, and she chose this because it was very broad, so it covered every aspect of the industry, not just design. This was her dream college, and she got accepted while a junior in high school. Throughout her time at FIDM she learned about merchandising, starting a business, trend forecasting, production, design, marketing, and sewing. She also took specialized general studies like art history, color theory, critical thinking, and more. She is extremely skilled at Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, the entire design process, and of course being an overly-detailed perfectionist. She graduated summa cum laude in July 2020. Her last quarter was also when she became interested in the bridal industry, and finished up her portfolio with an intricate collection created for bridal brand BHLDN. This portfolio became one of 25 top portfolios of the entire year at FIDM. Shortly after graduating, she began a course to become a certified wedding planner as well.

When she first moved to LA in fall of 2018, she landed a sales job at Uniqlo, blocks away from FIDM. She worked here for just under a year and a half, and got promoted multiple times. She learned the growth strategies of a business, extensive leadership skills, and more. She left Uniqlo at the beginning of 2020 for a design internship at a kids company called PixieLane. Here she learned how to work in a fast-paced environment, and she created all CADs, line sheets, and technical flats. She also did photography/editing for the website. She also had a brief internship as an intern to an online magazine called UnCover LA. She wrote stylish news stories, and covered LA's coolest events. She even met Lili Reinhart at the Covergirl Clean Fresh Launch! At the beginning of 2021, she started working full-time at her internship company, as an Executive Assistant in Design & Merchandising.

During the summer of 2020, she brought back the idea of starting an upcycled clothing brand while trying to keep busy during the pandemic. This idea originally surfaced at the end of 2019, when she had a class dedicated to the start-ups of creating your own business. She also wanted to turn her brand into something more than just clothes, so she has a focus of empowering women. She has experienced life-altering heartbreak, as we all have at some point, and she wanted to take that pain and turn it around to inspire others. Empowering women to be independent and not have to rely on relationships to feel happy. This inspiration also came from the women in her lives who've helped raise her, as they have also experienced heartbreak, and are showing her success is still possible while being independent. Amrit spent hours everyday working on every detail of Amrit Elise, and finally launched September of 2020.
